We are excited to have you as part of our wonderful and vibrant school community and look forward to serving you and collaborating with you over the years. I would love to tell you a few things about our terrific school.
The school prides itself on the infusion of faith into all that we do. We have events for the student body as well as families throughout the year that reflect the Liturgical Year and important faith traditions. Some examples of these events are: student\/family Mass on Fridays @ 9:00 at the church (please join us), Saint Fair, Advent activities, Christmas play\/program, Lenten activities and retreats, sacrament preparation, Holy Week activities, including Stations of the Cross, Easter activities, and May Crowning, to name a few. The school also uses the Virtues in Practice program, where a different Virtue is studied and focused on each month. In addition to these events, faith is interwoven into every subject area.
Another important facet of our mission at the school is to provide a relevant and rigorous education to all
students we serve; our aim is academic excellence for all. We work to meet students where they are and provide them with the support they need to be successful. The school offers various after school enrichment activities such as, Math is Cool (4th, 5th, 6th, & 7th grades), Baking Club, Folkloric Dance, Drama Club, Strings, and Robotics (5th & up). The school also has a well established relationship with the WSD Special Education Department, and works in coordination to assess students and provide support for students who qualify. Federal Title funding is also utilized to run support programs at the school. We are also very proud of our multiple highly engaging programs that are offered throughout the school day. These programs include our Multilingual Program, that encourages students to grow in cultural competence as well as biliteracy in the Spanish and English languages, and our S.T.R.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) program that provides students with the opportunity
to apply the Scientific Process . Our music program is also top notch, with our 4th, 5th, 6th, & 7th grade Honor Choir having abundant missionary opportunities at the school and in the community to share the faith through song. Our middle school students are offered multiple leadership opportunities throughout the year and they go to overnight camp and have monthly outdoor education outings. The school uses highly effective curricula for religion, ELA, math, social studies and science. In an effort to collect data and track student progress, the school uses a wide range of formative and summative assessments including ARK (Assessment of Religious Knowledge), Smarter Balanced State Assessments (3rd-7th), the NWEA MAP assessment, Accelerated Reader, and STAR testing. In order to understand and implement best practices and continuously learn and grow professionally, teacher and staff
professional development is ongoing. Additionally, the school is fully accredited through the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA).
Service is another component of our mission at St. Joe\u2019s. The school has regular student involved projects throughout the school year that connect to the St. Vincent de Paul food bank, low income senior housing, and many other organizations. Also, the school hosts multiple fundraisers that everyone, staff, students, and families, participate in. These fundraisers allow for our tuition to remain affordable, and they include the annual Have a Heart Auction and May Fest. It is wonderful when we all collaborate for the advancement and well being of the school; it is a great way to form relationships and build community.
We are extremely excited to continue our middle school expansion with the addition of 7th grade this year and 8th grade the following year. We look forward to having the opportunity to play an active role in our middle school aged children\u2019s lives during some of the most impactful and formative years!
We welcome you and your family to St. Joseph Catholic School and look forward to forming a strong and
lasting relationship throughout the years.
