It’s hard to believe that we are already approaching the end of the second trimester! There is much to reflect on and look forward to.
This Wednesday, 3/5/2025, we marked the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday. The ashes on our foreheads remind us of our mortality and call us to repentance, prayer, and penance. During this season, we encourage all our students and families to reflect on the ways we can grow closer to God through acts of kindness, prayer, and sacrifice. Please join us for our school Mass on Ash Wednesday, March, 5th, at 9:00 am.
To help guide our families through this holy season, we’ve gathered some resources for families to use during Lent. These include simple but meaningful prayer routines, acts of service, and ways to engage children of all ages in reflection. I encourage you to explore these resources and incorporate them into your family’s daily routine, helping your children better understand the season of Lent and its deeper meaning.
Resources: Hallow, USCCB, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) RICE BOWL, NCEA, Loyola Press, Formed-Lent w/
Brother Francis
I want to offer a very heartfelt THANK YOU to all families and community members who worked so hard to make the 45th annual St. Joe’s Have a Heart Auction an incredible success! A special shout out goes to our auction committee members led by auction chair, John Schapman, who put in countless hours towards this effort! Gross earnings are approximately $292,000, which exceeds our goal of $285,000, and is more than we have ever raised. Raise the Paddle funds are earmarked for middle school development, tuition assistance funds are earmarked for that purpose, and remaining income, after all expenses are covered, goes to general school operations and is an income line item in the school budget.
As many of you know, our school is currently in the midst of the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) accreditation process, a thorough review that ensures we meet high educational standards. This process is an important one as it guarantees that our school continues to offer a top-tier education while adhering to Catholic values. I’m pleased to report that our self-study is nearly complete, and we are preparing for the next steps, which will include a site visit from the accrediting team in October, 2025. We will keep you updated on the progress of this important process, and we are confident that the outcome will reflect the hard work and dedication of our community.
As we move through this season of Lent, let us be reminded of the love and sacrifice that define our Catholic faith. Let us support one another in prayer, in action, and in our shared mission to educate and nurture our children. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would like additional information on any of the above topics.
Thank you for your continued partnership in the education of your children. Together, we are making a difference!
Lenten blessings, Lisa Martinez

Recursos: Hallow, USCCB, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), RICE BOWL, NCEA, Loyola Press, Formed-Lent w/
Brother Francis
